Version 1.4 by Bailee DeBord on 2024/08/20 00:18

This guide details how to copy information from any previous encounter to another

  1. Navigate to Charting.
  2. Search for and select the patient’s card.
  3. Click in the Chart Notes section.

Click the Chart Notes Section

  1. Click the section tab you wish to compare (e.g., subjective, objective).
  2. Select the prior encounter from the Compare Prior Encounter dropdown.

Select the Encounter from the Dropdown

Note: This action can only be performed with encounters with dates of service prior to the current encounter on the calendar, no matter when the encounter was created. So, for example, if you are working on an encounter with a date of April 2, 2023, you can compare and copy from any encounter with a date of service before that date. If you have an encounter for the same patient on April 5, 2023, that encounter will not be available in the dropdown.

  1. To copy from the previous encounter, click COPY.

Click Copy

Note: The button will identify which section of the chart you are in, so if you are in the Subjective area, the button will say COPY SUBJECTIVE.

You may also use commands on the keyboard to copy and paste parts of the text instead of the entire section.

Click different tabs at the top to move between the sections of the chart note.

You can also copy information from a different encounter. Click the Compare Prior Encounter dropdown and choose a different date.

  1. Click SAVE to save your work and continue working, or click SAVE AND CLOSE if your notes are complete.
