Establishing a Guarantor
This article outlines what a guarantor is and how to add one in ChiroTouch.
The guarantor is the person or organization ultimately responsible for the medical bill after all other payment options have been exhausted. Most patients are their own guarantors.
Examples:
- Patient
- Parent(s) or legal guardian
- Spouse
- Employer
- Legal firms managing settlements and litigation
1. Navigate to Patients.
2. Search for and select the patient’s profile.
3. Click the Billing tab.
4. Select the Guarantor subtab.
5. Click Add Patient Guarantor.
6. Choose a Guarantor Type.
If the Guarantor is a Person
- Click Add Person.
- Choose the Relation to Patient.
3a. If the guarantor is in ChiroTouch as a patient or guarantor for another patient, search for and select the name.
OR
3b. If the guarantor is NOT already in ChiroTouch, select Create New Guarantor Record and enter the new guarantor information.
- Adjust any other guarantor details.
- Click SAVE.
If the Guarantor is an Organization
- Click Add Organization.
2a. If the organization is in ChiroTouch as a guarantor for another patient, search for and select the organization’s name.
OR
2b. If the organization is NOT already in ChiroTouch, select Create New Organization and enter the new guarantor information.
- Adjust any other guarantor details.
- Click SAVE.
